OSCAR: the interesting facts
• «Oscars» hand over the «Best Picture» only to producers.
• Producers and directors of exclusively English-speaking works became Winners of the award "Oscar" in the main categories («Best Picture» and «Best Director»).
• Into Academy structure enters hardly more than 10 000 persons.
• The length of red carpet is about 150 m, width — about 10 m. It consists of the several rolls, 135 kg everyone by weight, and its total weight is five tons. Two days and 21 persons are required to spread a carpet: to connect among themselves all parts, to hide joints and to level. Right after the terminations of ceremony start to clean a path. On it leaves only 4 hours.
• "Oscar's" big statues which establish along a red carpet, in height from 2,5 to 8 meters and weight to 550 kgs, do of fiber glass. Then revet with the most thin sheets of aluminum and covered with a yellow paint. They are not painted gold not with a view of economy: the special yellow paint looks better in the spotlight than gold.

• After winners in each category will be defined, cards with their names are located in envelopes which are unpacked on a scene during ceremony. Employees «Price Waterhouse Coopers» make two sets of such envelopes and place them in special portfolios. On the eve of "Oscar's" delivery two portfolios are delivered to a place of carrying out of ceremony at various times and different routes which also keep in a strict secret.
• Since 1950 there is a rule according to which Oscar's any owner cannot sell the figurine from auction, without having offered the initial price in 1 dollar to members of Film Academy.
• About an origin of the name "Oscar" walk various rumors. Some are convinced that in an origin of this name is guilty the librarian of Academy Margaret Herrick, seen a figure on a table and declared: «It looks directly as my uncle Oscar!» Others consider that so it was named by actress Betty Davis in honor of the first husband.
