Home: God's sight
The movie "Home" by Jann Arthus-Bertrand is inseparable from the message that it transmits, like the Bible, which cannot be read simply as a book.
The whole picture - a look at the world from above, and documentary photography from a helicopter in the slow motion mode. Under the guidance of renowned French photographer dozens aircrew around the world working on a product that chilly confirms: "We summoned the forces that we cannot control."
Here are just a few figures. To illustrate them in a single two-hour movie, it took 217 days of shooting, 488 hours of digital film and countless coordination with the Ministries of Defense, Air Force and diplomatic consulates in 54 countries around the world:
Since 1950, world population increased 3 times;
By 2050, the Earth will be 200 million environmental refugees;
To produce 1 kilogram of beef are necessary 13 000 liters of water;
In resource-rich countries lives 50% of the population which is below the breadline.
According to the director himself, "these figures have long been known to scientists, but only cinema can bring them up to all on the planet. "Home" is addressed not only developed but also the resources-countries, where mining for export declared a national treasure, and uncontrolled deforestation in remote regions covered by the setbacks paper concerns.
Earlier than in other countries, showing «Home» took place in Russia. Topi bogs of Siberia and the ice of Lake Baikal in the film shows only a few seconds, but looking the film, one can understand what environmental and geopolitical problems will confront Russia in 10 years.
Yann Arthus-Bertrand in no hurry to stun the viewer naturalistic frames: in a film there are no birds floating in oil and blood-stained seals on snow. In an unusual angle - taken from a helicopter, used in the film only two artistic means: music composer Armand Amar and voice-over text. But the voice-over says about exactly what is happening to us now. The film is gradually gaining momentum ...
After the film was no longer want to go home by car. The commentator says a sentence though leaves possibility of a repentance by doing.
